Nu verkar GNP ha övergett den gamla politiken till förmån för solskensmys tillsammans med de övriga partierna. Chosun Ilbo skriver:
The Grand National Party has performed a near-complete U-turn in its North Korea
policy. The party’s latest North Korea policy announced on Wednesday may as well
be called the GNP’s version of the Sunshine Policy. Comprehensive aid to North
Korea is at the core of the new policy direction, with projects such as inviting
30,000 North Korean workers to the South for vocational training programs,
supporting the construction of a Seoul-Shinuiju expressway, modernizing North
Korean factories, limited supply of electricity, and the creation of special
tourism zones in Mt. Kumgang and Mt. Seorak. The GNP decided not to push North
Korea to give up its nuclear program in return for providing it with 150,000
tons of rice and much-needed cash through the Mt. Kumgang tours and Kaesong
Industrial Complex.
The GNP criticized its existing “security first,
exchanges later” North Korea policy, saying such an approach was unrealistic in
today’s post-Cold War climate.
Alltså, ungefär den politik som förs idag av den sydkoreanska ledningen. De hökar som tror på hårda tag mot Nordkorea får nog sluta hoppas Sydkoreas regering, oavsett hur årets val slutar.
